Resilience: The key to success.
/Once I heard a metaphor asking, would you rather be an egg or a tennis ball? When you get dropped or crash, do you smash to the ground and crack or do you hit the ground and bounce straight back up again?
As a mum, Im always telling my kids to ‘keep trying’, ‘bounce back’ or that they ‘need to keep practicing’. But how often do we as adults fail and think that we cant do it, or wont be any good? I hear this all the time! Please be kind to yourself. The only way to fail is to give up.
My very first launch presentation was at my home. I invited over 50 people to come and learn more about my exciting new business. It was basically all my family and closest friends. Only four people came. My sister, sister in law, mum and mums friend. I was a bit bummed, but knew that I needed a different approach. I bounced right back and changed my gameplan.
Since starting my business, Ive had loads of cancellations, no shows and people wanting info and then never hearing back. Ive had to bounce back so many times. I can hand on heart say that I have built my business on integrity and authenticity. Although I've stepped out of my comfort zone many, many times and will continue to, the personal growth has been well worth it.
Some of the greatest entrepreneurs of all time have had the most epic fails. Think about Steve Jobs who was fired from his own company, Oprah who didn't get a tv job because she wasn't 'fit for tv'. There are so many incredible examples of highly successful people that have grown resilience along the way.
When things get tough, please remind yourself that you've got this and that the best view comes from the hardest climb.
With love,
Kim xo
